Alpacas of Gettysburg

We are a small farm located just minutes from the historic Gettysburg Battlefield. Our journey began in the fall of 2007 when my mother and I visited a local alpaca farm. I was immediately smitten, and my life has not been the same since. I excitedly went home and told my husband about these sweet creatures. Needless to say, he did not share my enthusiasm. Although we live on 26 acres, two-thirds is wooded and most of the rest my husband uses for deer cover which he did not want to give up. We did not have a barn or fencing so we would be starting from scratch. Another thing not in our favor is that neither one of us grew up on a farm. After much convincing, my husband finally agreed, so I started visiting farms, going to shows and seminars and reading all I could to learn about these magnificent animals. In 2009, I bought two females and boarded them where I got them until we could clear land, get our barn built and fencing put up, etc. Meanwhile, my herd was growing. Finally, in January, 2010, my dream came true and we brought our five girls home. It has been a great ride so far, and we are enjoying learning as we go. We intend to stay a small farm striving for quality instead of quantity. We invite you to visit our small farm.
