The Lion Potter

Welcome to The Lion Potter: Artistry and Local Harvest in Adams County

At The Lion Potter, you’ll discover some of the finest fresh-harvested, locally grown produce from Adams County, along with handmade jams, apple butters, artisanal soaps, and exquisitely crafted functional stoneware pottery.

David and Junko Young, a husband-and-wife pottery team, create their beautiful works in Gettysburg, PA, where they live with their children, Irvin, Elisha, Caleb, and Kagen. David’s pottery, primarily wheel-thrown, is inspired by the aesthetics of Japanese and African art. Junko adds her unique touch with hand-built teapots, slab-constructed pieces, and intricate animal motifs etched onto David’s creations.

Seasonal Delights
Visit us during the summer and fall seasons to experience the bounty of Pennsylvania’s agriculture. From tree-ripened peaches and heirloom tomatoes to freshly pulled corn and crisp apples, our farm-fresh produce offers a taste of the region’s best flavors.

Pottery Designed for Everyday Life
Every piece of pottery at The Lion Potter is handcrafted with daily use in mind. Practical functionality lies at the heart of each creation, blending beauty with purpose. We believe that an object’s utility enhances its inherent charm.

Our soft-colored glazes fuse seamlessly with the pottery, revealing the natural clay body on raised edges and pooling into valleys with rich, vibrant hues. Each item—whether wheel-thrown or hand-forged—is meticulously smoothed and finished, making it as inviting to the touch as it is to the eye. Designed for modern convenience, our pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe, with lead-free glazes ensuring safety for food and drink.
