As the nonprofit steward of Gettysburg’s past, Gettysburg History preserves millions of records and artifacts documenting the Battle of Gettysburg and the people and events that shaped the community and nation.
Gettysburg History’s headquarters is home to Beyond the Battle, a museum featuring rare artifacts, hands-on exhibits, and the popular immersive experience Caught in the Crossfire, which gives visitors a sense of what civilians endured during the Battle of Gettysburg. T he building also includes the Adams County Historical Society Archives and Research Room, as well as the Battlefield Overlook Event Center, which offers stunning views of the battlefield. Gettysburg History also includes the Shriver House Museum, the Hopkins House, future home of Gettysburg’s Black history museum, and the annual Gettysburg Film Festival.
